A Day in the Life at Commonwealth Senior Living at Georgian Manor

At Commonwealth Senior Living at Georgian Manor, our residents can relax with the peace of mind that comes with the 24-hour support we offer as well as the comfort of dignified, respectful help with daily activities. But that’s only the beginning. With a variety of lifestyle programs and activities offered each day, there’s always something to do and people to share the fun with. Mary, one of our residents says, “We are a big, happy family here!” Based on sentiments like these, we are honored to be recognized as both Best Assisted Living and Best Memory Care by U.S. News & World Report for 2022.  Today, we’d like to walk you through a day in the life of our residents.

After breakfast, we move into a gentle yoga session led by our Program Director. On other days, we might take a morning stroll around the courtyard or work on our balance and flexibility during our morning exercises. We also enjoy several pet visits each month which is especially exciting for Geneva and Vernon. Geneva says, “I always loved Golden Retrievers so much, I want to keep this one!”

In our Sweet Memories Neighborhood, we start off our lunch time with our Special Touch program. This program provides our residents with a warm towel scented with citrus, utilized for its awakening and refreshing qualities, as well as for stimulating appetites. In the evening, the towels are scented with lavender to sooth residents and prepare them to relax and promote a restful night’s sleep. You can even try this at home!

During the afternoon, we enjoy wide variety of activities throughout the month. We have History Happenings, where we learn about the month’s Travel the World theme, celebrate monthly birthday parties, or take trips to Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Foundation before dinner.

Betty says, “I love when we go out on the town. My favorite thing so far is our picnics in the park. Sitting by the water and watching the boat traffic is relaxing. Of course, lunch was good too!”

If you thought our weekdays were exciting, let us tell you all about our weekends! On quiet days, we spend Saturday nights at the movies and have Sunday afternoon church services. Jane says, “This place is fun! I am always ready for a card game, bingo, or especially getting on the bus to have lunch and ride around town. I have lots of friends here!”

And within just a few miles of our community, she can enjoy a bus ride to the Elizabeth River, Roosevelt Memorial Park, Towne Place at Greenbrier shopping mall, Oak Grove Lake Park, and a variety of wonderful restaurants.

In addition to these activities, Commonwealth Senior Living at Georgian Manor is conveniently located near Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Battlefield Medical Associates, Sentara Family Medicine Physicians, and Atwood Family Medical Center.  Any assistance our residents need outside of our community is right around the corner.

We’re proud to have been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as Best Memory Care and Best Assisted Living in Chesapeake, Virginia for 2021 and by memorycare.com Best Memory Care in Norfolk, Chesapeake, Newport News, and Hampton, Virginia for 2022.

We invite you to come visit our team and spend a day at our community to experience the lifestyle each of our residents enjoy.
