Our Fall and Winter Menus

Fall is here and along with it, all the comfort foods and pumpkin recipes. At Commonwealth Senior Living, we’re proud to serve our residents delicious and filling meals made from locally sourced ingredients. As we age, a balanced diet becomes even more important. We want to highlight the impacts healthy eating brings to each of our residents like reducing blood pressure, lowering risk of heart disease, and promoting higher brain activity. Our three signature dining programs highlight the importance of a healthy diet:

Farm-to-Table Dining

At Commonwealth Senior Living, 85% of the produce our residents enjoy is sourced locally. This is done through a partnership with Produce Source Partners. Local produce results in more nutrient-rich meals, supports the local economy, and produces a smaller carbon footprint. Select communities also feature a Babylon Microfarm inside their dining rooms. Each year these micro-farms grow thousands of plants, save hundreds of gallons of water, avoid millions of miles of food transportation, and reduce food waste by hundreds of pounds. In addition to all of these benefits, the hydroponic farming provides our residents with the freshest produce available. And they’re even able to help with the harvest when the plants are ready!

Today from the Bay

We’re proud to partner with Sam Rust Seafood to support local fishermen and bring fresh, sustainable seafood directly to our residents. These fishermen provide scallops, oysters, shrimp, trout, bass, clams, crab, and flounder from the Chesapeake Bay with an endless supply of nutrients. Healthline says eating fish is a great source of high-quality protein, iodine, and various vitamins and minerals. One of those vitamins is vitamin D, which is a fat-soluble nutrient many people don’t always get enough of. Additionally, omega-3 fatty acids help stimulate body and brain function and can ultimately reduce the risk of many diseases. We’re proud to incorporate these nutrients into our residents’ regular diets.

Fresh Baked Bread

There’s always something nostalgic about the smell of fresh baked bread wafting through the dining room. Our fresh baked rolls and biscuits can offer a sense of familiarity to lift your mindset as you taste it.
