Some days remind us that the true strength of a community isn't measured by what it achieves, but by how it cares for its people.
On October 5, 2026, associates, professional partners, and friends gathered at The Club at Glenmore for the annual Ashley Williams Memorial Commonwealth Cares Golf Tournament. While the day featured friendly competition and beautiful weather, its purpose went far beyond the game itself.
Commonwealth Cares exists for life's unexpected moments: when a medical emergency changes everything, when a natural disaster strikes, when a family faces unimaginable loss, or when an associate simply needs support.
For the past ten years, this tournament has brought people together around a shared mission: ensuring Commonwealth Senior Living associates and their families never have to face life's greatest challenges alone.
"This event started 10 years ago as a true labor of love," said Tommy Comer, Founder of Commonwealth Cares. "In that first year, we may have raised around $30,000 and hosted about 50 golfers. Today, we've grown into something much larger through the support of our partners, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who believes in the mission of Commonwealth Cares."
Honoring Ashley Williams' Lasting Legacy
This tournament also serves as a tribute to Ashley Williams, a beloved leader, colleague, and early champion of Commonwealth Cares. Following the tragic loss of Ashley and her husband, Stephen, in 2025, the tournament was renamed in her honor to recognize the profound impact she had on Commonwealth Senior Living and the associates she cared for so deeply.
Ashley was instrumental in helping shape Commonwealth Cares and believed passionately in supporting associates through life's unexpected challenges. Today, her legacy lives on through the foundation's work and the countless lives it continues to touch. Every dollar raised helps carry forward the mission she helped build: ensuring associates and their families have support when they need it most.

A Foundation Built on Compassion
Commonwealth Cares is a reflection of Commonwealth Senior Living's commitment to caring for its people.
Established in 2016, Commonwealth Cares provides confidential financial assistance to associates experiencing unexpected hardships, including medical emergencies, natural disasters, housing challenges, and the loss of a loved one.
Since its founding, Commonwealth Cares has:
- Assisted more than 900 associates and family members
- Distributed more than $1.25 million in financial support
- Provided timely, confidential assistance when associates needed it most
This year's tournament welcomed 132 golfers across 36 teams and generated a record-breaking $287,000, surpassing last year's total and marking the most successful tournament in Commonwealth Cares history.
Those funds represent far more than a fundraising milestone. They provide meaningful relief for associates facing unexpected challenges, helping cover emergency expenses, secure housing, navigate medical crises, and regain stability during difficult times.
As President and CEO of Commonwealth Senior Living, Earl Parker, shared during the event:
"We know life happens to all of us. You never know when hardship is right around the corner. Having a resource that's available, easy to access, and completely confidential is incredibly important. We believe taking care of our people is part of who we are. That's what makes Commonwealth different."
The foundation embodies two core values that define Commonwealth Senior Living:
- We CARE About People
- We Do the RIGHT Thing
These values are the driving force behind every family supported and every act of assistance provided through Commonwealth Cares.
That impact would not be possible without the generous support of our partners, whose commitment to Commonwealth Cares helps strengthen this important mission year after year.
