We are excited to be celebrating 20 years of serving seniors and their families at Commonwealth Senior Living. Richard Brewer founded the company in 2002 because he saw an opportunity to add value by providing extensive on-site support from our home office team, investing in the physical plants, adding Memory Care services to address an unmet need in an expanding market, and increase the size of the communities to achieve economies of scale. We have now grown to include over 30 communities across the Mid-Atlantic with more than 2,000 associates and the capacity to serve over 2,500 residents. Richard says, "Our people set us apart from other providers. We work hard and are not afraid to do things differently."
Our simple motto of "Welcome Home" conveys the feeling we want each of our residents and guests to feel when entering one of our communities, and our culture and Core Values help us to do so.
These were developed by asking our associates, "What does a great day at Commonwealth Senior Living look and feel like?" Out of intensive meetings and discussions with our associates at each community, our Core Values were born. They drive our associates and leaders in every they make and represent the "how" of what we do.
We are humbled by the loyalty and dedication of our associates that have been with us through the pandemic and longer. We also want to especially thank those who have been with Commonwealth for 20 years or more. From day one, we have been able to grow entirely through acquisitions and expansions. The associates below with 20 years or more either joined our company from the very beginning in 2002 or had already begun their journey in senior living with the previous companies that managed our communities. We are truly grateful for each of these individuals for staying with us through the many changes over the years, and for each member of our Pineapple Family.
