One Step Closer to Normal

We know you've been wondering... "If Mom moves to the community now, when will we get to visit her?"

We understand that moving a loved one to senior living is probably one of the most important and difficult decisions you will ever make. Our residents' connections to their friends and families are vital. At Commonwealth Senior Living, we are working to ensure that these connections are reinforced and celebrated through both virtual and in person visits.

Over the last few months, we have done everything in our power to ensure our residents and associates are safe. This has meant no deliveryman inside the building, no large group activities, no outside entertainment, and most impactful to our families . . . no visits with residents. The good news is that these precautions have protected our communities, but now that Virginia has begun reopening, we understand that it is time to loosen these restrictions. We're pleased to be taking the first step back to normal.

We know that many families have been waiting to bring their loved one into the lifestyle they deserve until they will be able to visit. We want you to know that this is now possible.

Commonwealth Senior Living has developed "phases" for our communities. These small steps will ensure that we are able to monitor the safety of our residents, associates, and families throughout each phase. We will continue screening, social distancing, and mandating masks throughout this process.

Phase One includes:

  • Scheduled Outdoor Visits with family members, limited to 2 visitors at a time and limited to 30 minutes, with social distancing, screening and mask requirements.
  • Reopening of community dining room for lunch meal and extended dining hours.
  • Resuming small group activities within the community.
  • Beauty Salon reopening with strict safety protocols.

Each community is creating their own, safe family visit space, and we will continue to notify families as we enter each phase.
