Our Promise to Veterans at Commonwealth Senior Living

Supporting Veterans and their Caregivers

At Commonwealth Senior Living, honoring those who served is not just something we do on Veterans Day; it's part of who we are every single day. Across our communities, we have the profound privilege of caring for the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to protecting our country, as well as the caregivers who have walked beside them through every chapter. Their strength, resilience, and devotion inspire us, and we are committed to offering support that reflects our deepest gratitude.

Our Promise to Veterans

Our dedication to Veterans is reflected in Our Promise to Veterans, a program created to honor their service and the sacrifices made by their families. At the heart of this promise is one simple truth: You served us, now it is our turn to serve you. Through meaningful recognition, exclusive benefits, and ongoing support, we are committed to ensuring every Veteran feels respected, valued, and celebrated.

Arranged and Covered Moving Support

We understand that transitioning to senior living can feel overwhelming. The act of moving is often physically demanding and emotionally stressful for Veterans and their loved ones. As part of our Promise to Veterans, we arrange and cover moving expenses up to $2,000.

This is more than a financial incentive. It is a tangible way we stand beside those who once stood for us. By coordinating and easing the moving process, we help reduce stress and ensure Veterans feel supported, respected, and deeply honored from the very beginning of their new chapter.

The Wall of Valor

One of the most meaningful ways we honor our Veterans is through our Wall of Valor, a proud and permanent display in all of our communities. Each portrait represents a story of courage through moments of service, sacrifice, and commitment that shaped not only our nation, but the lives of generations to come. Families often pause here to reflect, remember, and celebrate the legacy of their loved ones. It is a place where honor lives, and where gratitude is felt.

Additional Ways We Honor Our Veterans

  • Stars displayed outside the doors of our honored Veteran residents
  • Thanking you again during your one-year anniversary month with ½ off
  • Pinning ceremonies and patriotic celebrations held regularly throughout the year
  • Military honors and flag presentations
  • Flags representing all branches of service flown proudly at each community

Veterans Aid & Attendance

Many Veterans and spouses may qualify for the Veterans Aid & Attendance benefit, which provides financial assistance to help cover the costs of care, including support with daily activities like bathing, dressing, or eating. To qualify, a Veteran must have received an honorable discharge, served at least 90 days of active duty, and served during a recognized period of war.

To continue our commitment to supporting Veterans and their families, we proudly partner with Hook Law, experts in Elder Law with over 80 years of experience. Their team's work is deeply personal, with every person in the practice having a connection to the military, whether through their own service or that of a family member. By working with their legal professionals, families can more confidently navigate the application process, avoid potential liabilities, and develop a comprehensive plan, including long-term financial strategies.

Because the process can be complex, from legal and tax considerations to specific regulations, many families find it helpful to work with an elder law attorney who can guide them every step of the way.

Current Maximum Monthly Pension Rates for Aid & Attendance:

  • Surviving Spouse: $1,558
  • Single Veteran: $2,424
  • Married Veteran: $2,874
  • Married (Both Veterans): $3,845
