Signs and Symptoms of Alzheimers Disease

Paula Harder, Vice President of Resident Programs, gave a presentation to the congregation of First United Methodist Church in Richlands about the signs and symptoms of Alzheimers disease. Jim Talbert from the Richlands News-Press attended the presentation and wrote a nice article about his experience.

"Everybody's experience is different was the message Paula Harder presented at a seminar on recognizing the signs of Alzheimer's April 19. Harder said dementia is only genetic when it is the early onset type. She said the brain becomes blocked in the same way cars would be blocked if tunnels collapsed. Daily habits and work life change when the disease first starts. Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia which is not a disease but a word that covers all symptoms. "Different types of dementia require different types of treatment,' she said." Read his full article here.
