Our community is located in the heart of historic Manassas, Virginia. Once home to Robert Portner, a pioneering Prussian entrepreneur and brewer, the Annaburg mansion was purchased by John Kennedy Sills, who transformed it into Manassas Manor Nursing Home by 1964. The estate's sale to Prince William Hospital in 1979 reinforced its legacy as a haven for care and wellness. The demolition of two outbuildings paved the way for the creation of Caton Merchant Assisted Living in 1986, which has served seniors in Manassas ever since. Mae Shortt Merchant, a distinguished Prince William Hospital Board member, named the community in honor of her late husband, Wilson Caton Merchant, a devoted fundraising chairman until his passing in 1983.
In 2023, Commonwealth Senior Living at Manassas joined the Commonwealth family, marking a new chapter with extensive renovations to enhance care and support an engaging, vibrant lifestyle.
