What's Your Family Tradition?

By Paula Harder, Vice President of Resident Programs

Since 2016, Commonwealth Senior Living has taken our residents on a yearly virtual joy ride; from country to country, state to state, and decade to decade. As we start a new decade in 2020, we will head out on another adventure; exploring personal, local and world-wide traditions that help define who we are and what traditions have stayed with us over the decades of our lives.

Celebrating the first baby born in the new year. Mom’s homemade apple pie recipe. Watching the Macy’s Parade and football on Thanksgiving. Family trips to the beach every summer. Dad setting off fireworks in the backyard. Traditions make up a significant part of all of our lives. Join Commonwealth Senior Living in 2020 as we explore the traditions that make us unique while also drawing us together to celebrate diverse food, music, history, art, culture, fun and family.

Our 2020 journey will take us month by month through traditions that draw on our residents and associates life experiences and life stories, while giving us a chance to dig deeper into national and global traditions such as; St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, the history behind Valentine’s day, and the culturally significant tradition of sharing stories of wisdom with younger generations.
